These cobras are found in Southern Asia and Indo-Australian archipelago.
Monocled cobras reach a length of about 5 to 6 feet. They eat rats and
mice. Well acclimated and settled specimens become tame and often live
for many years (in excess of 15 years). |

"Cleo"
Banded Egyptian Cobra
(Naja annulifera anchietae) which is subspecies of Snouted
Cobra. We come from African grasslands and deserts and average around
4'-6'. I have a neurotoxic venom, as do all cobras, which attacks the
nervous system and causes respiratory failure. Like a rattlesnake's
rattle, a cobra's hood is used as a warning to predators.

King Cobra
(Ophiophagus hannah) King Cobras are found in India and
Indo-China to southern China and the Indo-Australian Archipelago, Bali
and The Philippines. In tropical forests and mountain rain forests.
Average length to 13 feet, the recorded maximum length in excess of 18
feet. King Cobra's prefer to be close to water (they are good swimmers
and divers). They feed primarily on other snakes, including venomous
snakes. They can lay up to 40 eggs. These snakes can bite and kill large
elephants. |

Ugandan Black Forest Cobra
(Naja melanoleuca) De
Black phase of the Forest Cobra is found from Sierra Leone, east to West
Kenya, south to North Angola, Kasai, Zaire. Black Forest Cobras are big
and fast snakes that can move quick on land in the water and in the trees.
Adult animals have a average length of 5 - 6.6 feet, but can grow up to 10
feet or more. Forest Cobras can live up to 28 years. They feed on rats and
mice.
