Leopard Tortoise

 

Leopard Tortoise ( Geochelone pardalis) The Leopard Tortoise comes from Central and South Africa. In variably dry regions. Carapace length can reach up to 28 inches, 22 to 35 pounds. Should be kept in a well heated dry terrarium, and can also be kept outdoors during warm weather periods. Leopard Tortoises should be fed grasses, dry pellet foods, Romaine lettuce plus many different vegetables.

African spurred tortoise (Geochelone sulcata) - Sulcata tortoises are native to more northern parts of Africa, ranging from the southern edge of the Sahara down through the arid countries, including Senegal, Mali, Niger, Chad, the Sudan and Ethiopia, up through the dry, hot Massaua coast bordering the Red Sea. The Sulcata is the largest of the African mainland tortoises, with specimens easily reaching 24-30 inches in carapace length and 80 to 110 pounds. The oldest recorded specimen in captivity lived to the age of 54 years.

 

 

 

 

"Torie" Sulcata Tortoise  (Geochelone sulcata) - Sulcata tortoises love their fruits and veggies - squash, zucchini, romaine lettuce, snow peas, green beans, collard greens, red seedless grapes, bananas, and apples are a few favorites.
